The IRISH AMERICAN WRITERS & ARTISTS INC.  is a non-profit organization dedicated to the celebration of Irish American writers, actors, musicians, filmmakers and artists both past and present.  We are an INDEPENDENT and PROGRESSIVE collective dedicated to the principle that by promoting and appreciating creative expression, we can enhance the human condition. Our goal is to highlight the RICH TRADITION of Irish Americans in all manner of artistic endeavor in the United States, from the 19th Century to the present day.
The IAW&A Salons, the brainchild of Malachy McCourt, began in June of 2011. At the monthly meetings, IAW&A member artists gave presentations of up to ten minutes in any genre. A plethora of talented novelists, poets, musicians, filmmakers, painters, and theatre artists beat a path to the Bar Thalia on the first Tuesday of every month. After a few months, the Salons grew so popular and artistically successful that the IAW&A added a second evening at the Cell Theatre on the third Tuesday of every month.
Sponsored by the Irish American Writers and Artists Association; Smurfit-Stone Corporation Professorship in Irish Studies, International Studies & Programs, University of Missouri–St. Louis, and Webster Groves Public Library. Reception sponsored by the Friends of Webster Groves Public Library
